    Kilted at CrackerBarrel Country Store

This sort of turned out to be funny in a way.

I went for a walk last night and popped into their store - basically a collection of stuff from the "old days" and people feel like they are stepping into the past, into yesteryear.

So I couldn't find what I was looking for and I went to the front counter and asked and they said wait and they will check the stockroom. So I'm waiting....and waiting.....standing at front counter in my tan original Utilikilt.

What was funny was that I was standing right at the cash register watching all the people who either wanted to pay for their old-fashioned country dinner or want to buy some momento from years gone by. They would walk toward the cash register, see me standing their, and their faces would go blank....like "Whaat in the world is this????"

I've been in the Cracker Barrel here in Tulsa a few times Kilted, and get basically the same response. It is very funny to see someone's face when their brain tripps over itself and basically shuts down at the sight of the kilt.

Haven't done the Cracker Barrel thing yet, but I've gotten this reaction from such places as truck stops and the barbecue place near our house.

I get a kick out of watching the reaction of "<warning.... not understanding... system shut down is imminent... >"

I'm in and out of the local Cracker Barrel at least once a week.pbperssons post made me realize that I'm at the point where I'm 100% comfortable with being kilted. It's the norm for me.And I don't pay much attention to peoples reactions around me.

I've been to Cracker Barrel several times while kilted. I don't pay any attention to whether people are staring or not, if they are it's their problem, not mine. On the other hand, I've had several nice conversations with people who asked about the kilt and the tartan. The most negative comment I had was from a young black waitress who said, "I really like your skirt". I told her it was a kilt and I wore it because it honored my Scott Irish ancestors and because it was comfortable. Then he made this retired old fart's day, when she came back with, "I don't care what you call it, it is sexy".
"A day spent in the fields and woods, or on the water should not count as a day off our allotted number upon this earth."
    Jerry, Kilted Old Fart.
