Pleasanton California Highland Games
Highlanders to your Stations!
the 141st Caledonian Club of San Francisco Gathering and Games to be held this Saturday and Sunday, September 2nd and 3rd, from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton California.
This will only be the second Highland Games I have ever attended, but I have been told this is quite a Large Games ( the biggest in Northern California)
More information is to be had here:
http://www.caledonian.org/
The Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess, Sinbad, Xena, and myself will be there on Sunday. Alan H. is supposed to be there on Sunday as well (at the Clan McNaughton tents).
Sooooooooooooo
Who's planning on going?
Cheers

Sunday! Sunday! Domingo!
We'll be there on Sunday. It will probably be hot as blazes (the usual for Pleasantom), so t-shirt and boots will be my uniform of the day.
In years past there's always been plenty to see and buy. Hope Monkey@Arms has a brown UK Workman's waiting for me there. Will look for everyone at the Clan McNaughton tents. Anyone know if we can bring our own beer in?

I went to these games a couple years ago when I was living San Jose. I've heard they're the biggest in the world... I wouldn't doubt it. Just wait and see.

Ray,
Sorry we will miss you. You should see if you can make it to one of the Bay Area Kilt Nights at the Devil's Canyon Brewery.
Cheers

Alas Kent there were no brown UK's in 40 in the inventory they shipped us (None in my size either.) Hope everyone will drop in on the Utilikilt tent and say Hi on Sunday. I'll be wearing my new Olive UK Original model. We are located right next to a beer vendor toward the far end of the clan area.
Speaking of which, I had the great pleasure to meet Bunchdescendant today. He was wearing a very fine looking leather sporran that he had made himself, right down to the leather tassels. I was quite impressed!
Best regards,

Me mum and I went there today. While I did not wear a kilt (all my kiltish handiwork is still kind of slap-dash) I still enjyed myself. I bought a drawstring-closured belt bag and a simple brooch. I spent too much time at the "gift shops" and too little time looking around the living history section. I enjoyed the music though, which included a rather interesting "digeridoo-ette".
Mum had fun, but at 83 (as of the sixth) she tires easily so she was ready to leave befre I was. It was still a good day, and I learned I may be descended from the MacDonald clan. I wonder if that entitles me to a discount at the golden arches?

It was great, the massed bands were a blast! Amazing Grace/evening hymn brought tears to my eyes. It was good to see the flame haired goddess and Panache and the weans. Then Alan, monkey, tim, damaris, bill, all the other xmarkers My son were there both days. My chief promoted me to Cheiftain while I was manning the tent this weekend. Does that mean I get one feather or two? Any roads it was fun and long and now I am very tired.
Oh, one other thing if any one missed it Tim and Damaris is gettin Hitched
Three cheers for the newly engaged!
