The Coming Winter...
Now that summer's just about over and winter is on it's way, I must start thinking about how I'm going to remain kilted in frigid/inclement weather..
I've wanted to order some Stillwater Wool Heavyweight kilts but they only one they have in my size is the green. I've emailed them and recieved no ETA for the others..
What do you all suggest?

wool 8 yard kilts...lots of them. Preferably family tartan, but most any will do if it gets nasty outside.

This is a bad time of year to look for stock with Jerry. He is planning for the holidays & 2007, and a reduced inventory.
As the website states:
Inventory Alert:
This is the time of year where our stock gets low, so don't wait too long to order if you want a kilt fast- the kilt you want today might be sold out next week.
We are gearing up production for the holidays (our largest production run ever), but it will be a few months before our stock gets fully replenished. We should have a batch of Nightstalker™ kilts ready in September.
Hope they find one in a corner somewhere for you!

Looks to me like Stillwater is clearing the decks for a major re-stocking. If you have your heart set on Stillwater, I'd counsel patience...they usually add some really cool stuff to their line when they re-stock...the Hunting McLeod being an example from last year. It isn't THAT cold yet...hang in there. I'd also note that the Stillwater standards are pretty warm...I'm sure that the wool is nicer but the standards are quite all right.
Best

I'm looking at Stillwater because of their affordability.. If you know anyone else selling comparable kilts at a comparable price, please let me know...
You think the standards will suit me okay in temperatures down into the '30s?
BTW, I've been checking their stock for at least 5 or 6 weeks and they have only had the green heavyweight in my size during that time..

Whats your budget? What Price Glory and E-Bay are two sources for the heavy (and warm) militery kilts. And then theres always the Great Kilt. I have several of the militery kilts and Stillwaters heavyweights. Any of them are good choices, though the militery kilts ARE a lot warmer than the Stillwaters.

As for the "upgrades" I suggest in the above review, I believe O'Neille maybe able to take care of them. I'm sending both of my Ebay tanks to him for the upgrades. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
