We Admitted We Were Powerless Over Kilts, That Our Closets Had Become Unmanageable

Okay, have been out on a kilt binge and lost track of my kilts. Finally figured out what a high kilt tolerance I've built up.

45 of them babies....with two on order...

No, not trying to catch anyone...just love the things, wear them full time, have the money, and keep seeing one's I like.

Have 14 Utilikilts, 13 USA Kilts, 4 Kathy's Kilts, 4 AmeriKilts, 3 Pittsburgh Kilts, 3 SportKilts, 2 Freedom Kilts, a leather RKilt, and a Celtic Croft Kilt.

I have one more Kathy's Kilt (Red Scott) and one more Freedom Kilt (Dress Maroon) on order.

So, when they come in the count will be 47.

Feel kinda like an old drunk waking up with a hangover, looking at all the empties, and being amazed he drank all that.

Except I'm cold stone sober and feel joyful about having and wearing kilts.

And yes....I'm still addicted to the comfort and freedom of kilts and I still have a wish list...so who knows what's next.

Perhaps its cultural. I'm a child of grandparents and parents who grew up during the depression. Raised pretty much on peanut butter and jelly sandwitches and started working after school and weekends at age 10 (Snivel)...but it sure is nice to be able to pick out a kilt to wear that fits my mood for the day. 'Tis a feeling of wealth....and certainly should be for the funds laid out to acquire the selection.

Let this serve as fair warning of the power and speed of this addiction. Wasn't but a couple years ago I'd never worn a kilt in my life....

same here. With the exception of a drunk night at the fraternity house...I'd never worn a kilt until I bought my first one almost two years ago. Now I wear them all the time when I am not at work...and that will be changing soon!

I hear ya Ron. The wishlist keeps getting bigger. I have 3 on order, and I am likely to buy a WPG Gordon on payday (it'll be wet, relatively cold, and nasty pretty soon), as well as lay down the other half for my box pleat from Matt.
We are powerless over kilts, and the desire just keeps growing....so many tartans, and different makers... so little time!

Much the same with me, Ron. I had never worn a kilt till August of 2005, but haven't worn pants since. I've just added one more wool to my collection with winter around the corner. I have to plan my collection because of heat intolerance. I'll probably add a couple more lightweights for next summer, and this time give Rocky some business for some USA casuals.

I remember talking to uncle Otto at Utilikilts, and he said that sometimes he feels like a "drug dealer" - referring to how addicted folks can become.

I enjoy the variety: non-traditionals as well as traditional wools. I'm proud to wear a kilt as my normal attire, and enjoy being able to select daily based on my mood, occasion, and temperature.

Well Ron, you got me to wondering how many I had. Just walked to the closet and took stock, I have 17 on the rack, with 2 more on order from Rocky for his special kilt deal, and I only started wearing kilts a year ago! Might have to slow down the purchasing pace to one per month! We are powerless, and I now have my eye on the Saffron one on eBay posted in another thread.

Well, I've only got four "store-bought" kilts, but am now in the middle of making my third DIY, following Alan's X-Kilt directions. I will try a trad kilt next, and if that goes as smoothly I can see the number getting big in a hurry!

There's more of us than I thought.

I wore my first kilt in July 2005 and went full time in August. I just counted and I have 16. I've got my eye on another USAK and a Matt Newsome box pleat.
