I saw a "promo" for a new? history channel show last night, called, "Bravehearts Scotland" I think it will be airing on Mondays starting tonight. Not sure of the date, though, so keep an eye out.

I've always enjoyed the History Channel. I don't have cable at this time though, which is a bummer. I have a handful of their productions, and I am glad that I have those.

It was a good show, and they stuck to what they could prove through records and archeology, while giving their best guesses based on what else could be gleaned.

They did prove pretty convincingly that Scotland of the 13th Century was no backwards backwater country, but a pretty rich and powerful land, with a wealthy and well educated ruling class, the beginnings of a modern society, and worldwide trade linkages.

I've been enjoying the Lost Worlds series all along - they've done great episodes on Atlantis, Rameses Egypt, Hitler's "Germania," and I'm currently watching one on Athens (I have TiVo and watch these shows when I have the time, usually in the morning after working out but before my son wakes up). I saw the listing for this one and got really excited.

To me, the History Channel tends to run a little bit right-wing at times, but I think they're just playing to their audience. This show has been pretty strictly archaeological in nature, though, so the politics hasn't entered into things quite as much. Much like Digging For The Truth, they've kept it to more of an exploration-type show, which I like.
