An unfortunate incident in Canberra
Snagged by Google news clipping service:
A visiting Scotsman was denied entry to a prominent Canberra nightspot on Saturday night because he was wearing a kilt.

The author, publisher, or editor were very kind to the night club in that they didn't give a name. I guess it just goes to show the differences in journalism in different places. Our press revels in revealing the details. O'Neille

From the news article:
"Mr Morrison said people often asked him if he had anything on under his kilt.
"I don't really answer."
Surely the bouncers weren't afraid of concealed weapons?

I sent an e-mail this evening, requesting that they review their dress policies. I pointed out the Scotsman was wearing the national dress of his country, and that Austrailia has many proud traditions related to the kilt.

Me Too!
"Dear Sirs,
It seems some narrow minded employees of yours have banned the national dress of Scotland from your establishment. It’s a shame how a small group of people sometimes feel they have to dictate their views to a larger group of people. Maybe it would be best to post on your website and your adverts how your narrow (ignorant) views may innocently ban people from your business and save these people the utter waste of time visiting your establishment. At least I now know better than to waste my time there, no matter what I’m wearing.
Thank you for taking the time to read my note.
Regards"
