Funny thing on WWE
Ok. at the next pay-per-view, the Highlanders, Robbie and Rory are fighting the Spirit Squad (any combo of Kenny Mikey , Mitch, Johnny and Nicky) for the tag team titles.
all 5 members of the Spirit Squad came to the ring to do a cheer for the Highlanders. Check it out, it's pretty funny.

I don't watch WWE, but thought I would check out the Highlanders as they came from Canada. I could be wrong, but I thought I remembered MacHummell making those Maple Leaf tartan kilts. Anyway, I love how the profile says they are from Oben, Scotland. Now, I have been to Oban, Scotland but never Oben. I wonder if they are close to each other?

Oban is a fairly big city. It is on the West coast near Fort William. They also produce a mighty fine single malt. I wouldn't think they are obscure in the least. I think it is just a spelling mistake.

Just to be a pedantic sod, Oban is a town, there are only six cities (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee and Stirling) in Scotland as the monarch has to decree city status. I actually think I read somewhere that neither Edinburgh or Glasgow are 'cities' but Royal Burghs (sp?). Weird how the old UK works.
Back on to the wrestling!!! Is Hulk Hogan still on the go?
Edit to add that Oban is a cathedral city.

My first thought was; "Do people actually watch that"?

To my knowledge St Andrews does not require letters patent as its status predates the union of the crowns in any case and it was an ecclesiastical foundation with a cathedral.
The monarch only needs to confer city status on places which do not have an ecclesiastical cathedral foundation of ancient origin. These are usually places which have grown since the nineteenth century. There are many cities with continuing ecclesiastical foundations which have never had letters patent.
Even when the ecclesiastical foundation is no longer there the status remains in custom and usage.
People talk about "St Giles Cathedral" in Edinburgh. It has not been a cathedral since the 17th century when the Presbyterian Scots threw out Archbishop Laud's prayer book. Its correct name is "The High Kirk of St Giles" now. Yet it was St Giles which gave Edinburgh its city status.
OK St Andrews is a small city, they exist in Wales too and are inherited from their ecclesiastical status not from their size.
Britain's smallest city is St David's here in Wales.
From Wikipedia:
"United Kingdom
In the United Kingdom, a city is a town which has been known as a city since time immemorial, or which has received city status by letters patent — which is normally granted on the basis of size, importance or royal connection (traditional pointers have been whether the town has a cathedral or a university). Some cathedral cities, for example St David's in Wales, are quite small, and may not be known as cities in common parlance."
Definitions of city vary from country to country of course

I believe I read that it was the Maple Leaf, somewhat fitting since they're from Canada (though not originally). You can read a little about them here.
And evidently it is Oban.
