leather working
I've been lurking off and on but sadly I'm not coming out of hiding for kilt related material.
I want to make my brother a leather guitar strap from some elk hide I have laying around and am not quite sure what the best way to do it is. I have no leather working experiance so I'm using the wrong terms and probably making false assumptions. There is the belt/knife sheath method that would use 2 strips layed face to face, but I have been picturing this more like a scabbard that has one piece of leather wrapped around a body with one row of stitching along a spine. The only place I know this is used is with some sword scabbards and then you have a wood body to wrap it around. What would be a good soft body and how would I keep the leather from sliding on the body? Glue?
It is past 2 am here so if any of this is incoherent I'll try and clean up my mess tomorrow.
