UtiliKlan at King's Island
Friday this week was "Pride Night" at Paramount's King's Island, the amusement park north of Cincinnati. There are many things that I like about this event, but the best is that there ARE NO LINES, so for my money - and it is a lot of money - this is the only time to go, when tickets are not for sale to the general public (well, anyone can buy one, they just need to be aware who's throwing the party). In the course of four hours or so, you can ride as many roller costers and other stomach-churning contraptions as you can in a ten-hour day during the summer - and them some.
Or get sicker quicker.
Someone here has advised never wear a kilt to an amusement park, I recall, but I guess I must have taken that as a challenge. I wanted to see how cumbersome it was for myself (not all that much, it turned out).
For a while, I thought I was going to be the only one. It was, after all, forecast to be a little nippy out. But then, as my group was strolling down one of the promenades, my friend, Steve, cries out with his ever-so-slight Yiddish inflection, "Look! It's your people!"
Steve brought a camera and insisted we get a photo.
Oy.
Since I did not seek the twins' permission to post their picture, I have edited the photo to conceal their identity. But they were, in my estimation, VGL and as you can see, I did not put up a fuss after all.
Regards,

Ok, you blured the faces, but I think I sold the one on your left his UK at the Cincy Celtic Festival 2 years ago. If he's who I think he is, he is on the yahoo group though doesn't post much.
On a side note, I'm going to be at Kings Island tomorrow and Tuesday working on a game show.
Glad you had a good time.

Excellent photo, Rex, three UK's together without prior arrangement must be an unusual event.

Oh my!
Rex, you've got a sock down! I only mention it because you're so very well dressed in all your pics.
Looks like a good time was to be had by all.

I think it's a effect created by the camera's lens and the angle the picture was taken. You can't see my knee on one leg, but you can on the other. One foot was forward of the other, I believe. The other guys had beautifully polished combat boots on and I wish feet were in the shot.
But thanks for the kind words. I think everyone looks good in their kilts and that we all tend to pay more attention to how we are dressed because of it.

have to share an experience I have while riding a roller coaster kilted last year at Great Adventers Night OUT.
Had a grand time - saw few similarly garbed gents - i guess rural NJ is NOTthe most kilt friendly place...
ANYWAY a bud & I - both kilted - head for the Medusa - a coaster where you are strapped in from above & your legs dangle free - the somewhat invasive seat made for some crushed pleats around teh back - and forced extra fabric towards teh front - creating the perfect wind catch. For the most part it wasnt that much of a problem - just flashing a lot of thigh & cooling breeze BUT when we got off the ride & headed toward the exit we looked up to be faced with the pictures that they had taken of each 'car' mid ride... I escaped with my modesty intact. He on the otehr hand was not so lucky with the vittles on show for all the world to see. Luckily the folks in the booth pedaling the pics were too busyt to pay that much attention to the contents of each snapshot - although they did have quizzical looks on thier faces when we burst into raucus laughter. We quickly grabbed copies of the pic (no i wll NOT post it here ) and beat a hasty retreat from the area before we got busted!

Oh my gosh - I haven't thought about Great Adventure in years! I grew up in NJ and visited many times when I was a kid. I'm glad to know it's still in business.
