Richmond, VA Highland Games

I may not be the right person to start a thread on these games, but with them being two weeks away and not seeing a recent thread on them, I thought I should start one. I (and my wife) will be there for the first time this year. Clan Barclay is holding their AGM at Richmond this year. And being the VP I thought I should go. Is there anything you can tell me about the games that isn't available on the website? I know that the championship for pro heavy atheletes will be held there this year. I'm excited to see that. Are the games viewable from the clan tents?
I'm not convening the tent, so I can't offfer it to xmark members to gather, but I would like to meet others if you will be attending. I'll probably be spending a lot of time at the clan tent. Our president and secretary are flying in from California, and we're drinving in from Tennessee, so most of our short time there will be spent with the clan.
I look forward to hearing from you about the games and any of you that will be attending.

I already have ordered my two day tickets. I'm not sure if I'll wear my Xmarks tee skirt(depends on the weather)' but I'll at leasr wear my Xmarks kilt pin.. I'll stop by the Barclay tent to say hello. I hope to meet Jay sometime during the weekend also. I hope some of our members from Maryland and Northern Virginia will show up too. This will be the first time in my memory at least that Albannach will perform in Richmond (Sunday only, two shows). Anyone who has seen them will want to be there, and if you haven't seen them perform. They are a group that must be seen to fully appreiate their performance.

It'd be great to meet you. Can you give me an idea on the layout of the games? If I can watch the athletic events from the tent, thats probably where I'll be most of the time.

I'll just chime in and say that if you go you have to see Albannach! They energy, sound, and driving beat have everybody in earshot dancing to their music. And they are a great bunch of people outside of their musical talents.

From my memory, the clan tents are arranged around the atheletic field.

Jerry, your memory is correct. Its right next to the Richmond Speedway.
I was there two years ago and they were running speed trails. Not to bad, but you could here the cars.

Hey guys, we just got back from Richmond, thought I'd share a few photos. First, I'll say that aside from the MUD and the WIND, we had a great day out. Drove 100 miles each way to get there, wasn't gonna let the elements get me down. On with the pics:
