Greetings from Deetroit! (well, just south of it anyhow)
Just wanted to say hello, I've really enjoyed the threads I've read so far so I decided to register. I'm a snare drummer in an area pipe band so I'm pretty used to wearing a kilt. Recently though I've been getting the urge to start wearing them more often in everyday life. I'm a little hesitant to do so given the stares and snickers I've dealt with while wearing my band kilt. I guess this is just something you've got to get over. My other main concern is I've been slowly but steadily losing weight over the last year and am a bit apprehensive to invest in such a pricey (though worth it!) garment that I may not be able to wear in a year's time. I know you can have them altered but I've heard they never look "quite right" if they need to be sized down, rather than up. Any truth to this?
Anyway, hello, glad to be here!

Welcome. I used to live a little south of Detroit as well, when I went to the University of Windsor ;)
Cheers

What band??

Who can blame! We have these wonderful, comfortable, handsome, and probably expensive garments hanging in the closet.... It's like kid sitting at a table with a bag of candy... tough to resit.

Stick around here for a while... the collective wisdom on this board covers just about every situation I've run across!

Depends on the extent of the reduction or enlargement. I had mine done this past summer and it was basicaly a re-build. I had this done by an experienced kiltmaker and the kilt looks great.
Anyway, hello, glad to be here!
If you played at any of the games in Ontario this summer, chances are we may have unwittingly crossed paths.
Enjoy the group!
