    Not another targe

With all the targes being built I finally got in gear and completed the one I had been working on.

Front is two layers of 5 ounce leather and 450 brass tacks
center boss started life as a candlestick base

Targe with the threaded plug in the boss

    Without the plug

Back is two layers of blanket wool covered with German oil tan Elk hide

    with spike in place,

Hand filing and threading the spike from a 3/4" bolt took more time then I thought.

It took about twenty five hours from design to finished targe.

All I have left to do is to attach the strap to carry it on my back and then I'm ready for the next Jacobite uprising

comments and suggestions for the next one I build are welcomed

OK Livingston, you have to get yours finished and pictures posted

Wow! It's stunning! Good pattern and design. You took the effort to make the back site look as good as the front. Good job!

Hmmm... think you could share a more detailed "how-to" on making one of these? It'd look right nice when I'm in Ren. Faire garb!

I"ve got another one planned out in my head
and have everything I need on hand
I could probably be talked into photographing the progress of the next one at various stages of construction, if there would be any interest to the board.
