Question about the UK Mocker

I have one of the original 500 UK's, and have several others, but my question is this: it appears in every photo I have seen that the Mocker is almost bulbous in shape. I.E. it appears to have way too much hip in proportion to hem line. Please, will the men who wear the Mocker express their views and personal experiences?

I've got two Mockers and love them both. According to the measuring instructions, I wear a 37" waist, but after my second one, I got a 36". I like how the 36 fits, both in the waist and the hips, but that might just be me.

I bought all three before they went with waist snaps, so the sizing may work differently now.

My 36" Mocker is one of my favorite kilts.

Thanks, Dale. But what do you mean about 'waist snaps'? How are they different from the snaps used from the get go?

My first UKs had "floating" waist bands - they required a belt to keep them from slipping down your hips, but they accommodated day-to-day variations in girth. Newer ones come with a set of snaps on the waist band.

As to your original question, I think most UKs sold that I've seen are too big for the person in them (if not worn too low) and they can end up looking blousy around the butt. Because I was able to try it on in person, rather than order over the internet, the last mocker that I bought was a size smaller than I usually get, and I like the fit and shape much better.

This was what I was trying to convey. I completely agree with Rex. Try one on at a booth, following their recommendations, then try one on that's one size smaller. I wish I had done that when I first tried them on. I would now have three 36" rather than two 37's and one 36.

I have heard in accounts posted here that the volunteer sales staff tend to fit them loosely, too. So, you might have better luck if you do it yourself.

They had several racks of UKs hanging in the booth at the Dayton Celtic Festival, and I just sidled up and helped myself to one. The beauty of the kilt is that it is easy to try on without the need for a dressing room. So, there I was, slipping on the mocker and slipping off the navy Freedom kilt, and greatly distracting the ladies in the booth next door.

Well its not really the booth staff's fault, its UK's official policy that the fit is supposed to be on loose side with an emphasis on comfort and freedom. According to the paperwork that comes with your kilt a properly fitted UK should practically be able to slide off your butt when worn without a belt, of course that was before the waist snaps. Obviously one doesn't have to choose to wear it that way, and the customer is always right. Just didn't want you think that the staffers were trying to sell ill-fitting kilts.

i have a mocker...and will probably get another..
when i got mine, i gained a few pounds, and thank haggis, it still fit..
now , i've gone and lost 40 lbs..
so, WHAT CAN I DO?????
