The Best of the Worst of Undressed 2006
by Kat Giantis
Dolly Tartan: As we gaze upon Patricia Arquette's understated ensemble at the Dress to Kilt event, a twin set of attributes instantly stands out. We're talking, of course, of her twinkling eyes and buttery blond bob. In fact, we were so taken by the actress' striking visage we almost didn't notice the remarkable round objects on such prominent display further down. Yes, we mean those delicate pearls dotting her neckline, which nicely play up her milky (and how) skin. And look, there's her rumpled husband, Thomas Jane, who gets his Celt on by fastening a feather-covered pouch over his plaid-clad private parts. Hmmm, is there anything else we should mention? Oh, that's right, there's Patricia's gravity-flouting frock, which gently cups her conservative cleavage as it pays an oh-so-subtle homage to the undulating hills of the Scottish Highlands.

I've seen this picture before, this is from a fashion show. Fashion shows are meant to play with and push the conventions of normal clothing.
Arquette's outfit is a bit much, but it is a fashion show, and let's face it she does pull it off. So bully for her.
I hadn't noticed before that Thomas Jane's sporran appears to a full mask! If you look closely it seems there is a bird head and neck draping down for the closure (Thomas must have really hated that peacock!).
My biggest objection is the strange thing around Thomas Jane's neck. Based on it's position I assume it is trying to be a tie.
It fails.
Badly.
But, both of them look like they are having fun, so bully for them!

Panache, Thomas Jane looks to be wearing a cravat or a rouche (Not sure of the difference) rather than a traditional tie. It seems like these have made a big come back int he past year on vendor sites. Of course I think they look a lot better with a waistcoat that on their own. Here are a few examples:

I really like the Elliott tartan he's wearing.

There seemed to be something missing in his outfit that I couldn't quite place, but Colin's comment about a vest made me see it: He's not wearing a belt.
The cravat looks nice, if that's what it is, but it would look better with a vest, I think. But that's just me.
Cheers,
Nick

Colin,
Thanks for the information, I am certainly glad he wasn't wearing the evidence of a foiled assasination attempt by garrote.
I read up on them. Even though they are the forerunner to both, they seem an uncomfortable midway point in terms of appearance between a tie and an ascot. I agree they certainly look better with a waistcoat.
Failing attack by a Thuggee, I think I shall avoid them.
Cheers

With that outfit, Ms. Arquette should win the Breast in Show award.
And Thomas is one lucky lad with one lovely bird at his side & another on his crotch!
.

Nick, do you see what I meant?
For the record, Nick discussed this with me, prior to actually posting it. I told him I didn't see anything wrong with it, but I also didn't see the thread making it very far before I had it locked down and removed. And with the above, we're well on the way to that second step.
Do I need to remind everyone that this forum is visited by guest of all ages and of both sexes? Is that really necessary? Again?
