Going to a family-ish Christmas supper...

The wife and I are going to her stepmom's(Diane) mom's(Sue) place for supper on Christmas eve. Sue has asked everyone to dress up for the evening just for something nice. I decided to wear my kilt and am planning on the following outfit:

The only people that there that I will know are my in-laws, Sue, and her husband Lionel. The rest of the guests are going to be Lionel's family, which I have only met once. To give you an idea of what the dress is going to be like, my father in-law is planning on wearing a sport coat with a turtleneck sweater. I was just wondering if you guys think what I'll be wearing is appropriate/dressy enough. If I had not decided to go kilted I would just be wearing a blue dress shirt and black dress pants.

So let me know what you guys think.

It's the Grant tartan in modern colours.

Oh, and thanks for the great responses everyone. Just to let you know, I will shave and actually comb my hair before I go.

I will be wearing black shoes, but not indoors. I don't want to track in on the carpet. It's really hard to find a green shirt that matches the green in the tartan well enough. And if the greens don't match, they'll clash.

You're probably ahead of me, but I was thinking you might consider a white shirt to see how it looks.

The black shirt just seems a tad severe for a holiday occasion...and seems to overpower the beautiful tartan. A white shirt may put more focus on the kilt and tartan colors.
