    My wife is a gem!

Sorry for this, but I just have to brag about my bride. In 2004 we took a tour of England and Scotland in a last minute deal. I had known that my surname was of Scottish origin and the family history of when my great-great-great grandmother came over single and pregnant, but had not given it a lot of thought. However, when visiting the old home country, something awoke in my breast and I started to consider the wearing of the tartan. My wife encouraged this and a month or so ago convinced me to purchase an SWK to see if kilt wearing was for me.

After a month or so of wearing it at least once a week around town, I decided to wear it to a party held after church service last evening. This was the first time many in my congregation had seen me kilted. What an awsome evening with only one sour spot (an older gentlemen trying to lift the apron to see if I was a true Scotsman! Grace prevailed however.)

So this morning as my bride and I are exchanging gifts, she informed me that since we were already planning a trip to see the Scottish Tartan Museum in Franklin in January, my gift this year is going to be an 8yd tank AND a box pleat from Matt in my choice of tartans! This was completely unexpected but much appreciated.

Sorry to say this though guys, SHE IS TAKEN!

Lucky lad. I am also blessed with a dear wife who encourages my kilt addiction but some here are less fortunate.

Girl friend bought me a Stillwater Hunting Mcleod for Christmas. I bought my son a Stillwater economy Leatherneck Tartan as well. As usual we wore the Leatherneck kilts to Christmas eve. One of my sisters "who doesn't get it" said," that it was the most beautiful tartan she had seen." I thanked her and agreed full heartedly

Congratulations, my friend! That's the way it's supposed to be, and too rarely is. A loving and supportive spouse is one of the best things in the world. And a double pop on tailored kilts, yowza! You'll love the box pleat from Matt Newsome. When I put mine on, something clicked and I thought, "Yeah, this makes sense." Way to go!

I believe if all spouses and family were more supportive there would be more people out and about in their kilts.
