    USA Kilts Casual

I started pulling all of my kilt stuff out of the boxes and setting up formal clothes for this evening when I got to which kilt to wear I dug way in the back of my closet where there is a Dress Gordon kilt. I thought that the colors would go great with my cut down tux kilt jacket.

When I opened the dry cleaner's plastic I was shocked to find that the kilt to be a USA Kilts "Casual" rather than a "Semi-Traditional" that I expected to find. I bought this kilt so long ago that I did not then know the differance. After looking at this for a few minutes, I do beleive that I am going to wear it to a formal tonight anyway. The colors are just gorgeous.

I got "the question" last night, no not the one about the underwear but the one where: "What is the deal with the socks?" I had to explane Kilt Hose to my friends. What I am thinking is that If they don't know the differance between socks and hose they will not catch the "wrong" fabric and lack of buckles.

This kilt is so eye catchingly beautiful that it sat in the back of the closet for two years waiting for a formal occasion to come along to justify bringing it out. Now that I know that it is wash and wear, this sucker will see a lot more daylight.

I guess I'm just goofy cause I wear my traditional all over the place. I have a stillwater and dont hardly ever wear it after I have felt the real thing.

    Hey Robert,

It's sat in the closet for that long? Why hasn't it been out and beaten up a bit?

FYI... BOTH the Semi Trad AND Casual are machine washable... just don't use a dryer and don't use fabric softener.

Show us some pics of the event when it's finished!

    Sir Robert,

You are correct. Most people won't know that a USAK Causal isn't a traditional kilt. The general public thinks all tartan kilts are the same. Have fun and take a few pictures.

I just got back from the French Quarter of New Orleans where I had a nice lunch. I wore my Royal Stewart kilt that had been my knock-around kilt. It was made in the UK by "Sacrifice" a gothwear co. Other than PV material it is exactly traditional in construction. I really need to re-evaluate all my kilts as to which ones are "nice."
