Details Of My New Isle of Skye Kilt
It was a nice sunny day. I found a white sheet to lay on the hammock. So I laid out my new Isle of Skye 16 oz Strome from Lochcarron Mills, hand sewn by Kathy Lare of Kathy's Kilts and took some pictures.
I figured they might somehow be helpful to the do-it-yourself crowd or to those guys who are thinking about getting their first hand sewn kilt from some kiltmaker but aren't sure what they get for the extra money.
Hopefully this shows a lot of the custom workmanship done to tailor a kilt to your body and some of the features not found in less expensive kilt options.
Since there were so many pics it'd be easier to just go to my gallery where they're posted. You can also enlarge the pics there for an even better view. Any wrinkles are from my laying the kilt out.

Here's one sample pic though, shows the double fringe on the outer apron.

Thanks Ron, That is a nice testament to Kathy's workmanship!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Another gorgeous kilt Ron. Thanks for showing all the details in your gallery.
Interesting though, Kathy says "not" to roll a kilt while traveling.

So beautiful. The work-woman-ship is so amazing (even down to that little shorter pleat thingy). Love the color combination. Wear it with pride and happiness.

Very nice Ron! Is this number 50 or 51?

The "short pleat thingy" is a turned up pleat, which is done so that it doesn't hang from under the front apron of the kilt. It is one of those touches that makes a good kilt into a great looking one.
It is also covered in Barb's book.
Kathy does an amazing job. Thanks for the pics Ron.

Thanks McWage...
I knew that, just couldn't find the right name for it in Barb's book...shoulda kept looking.
And, I think its kilt #50 for me. Certainly more than enough...except I had to go and order the Army tartan and the Saffron in semi-trads from Rocky...
