Buckles revisited

Hello all,

I just found this site:

which would appear to have a veritable plethora of buckles of all shapes and designs. In fact seeing the military web belt roller style of buckle has given me the idea of maybe making my kilt with that type of buckling system. The roller buckles in conjunction with webbing straps would allow for an infinitedly adjustable fit. The only problem I can forsee is that daily use of this type of strap and buckle eventually frays the webbing which would probaby necessitate replacing the strap(s). The only other issue might be the buckles themselves may be more bulky than traditional buckles. Still, the UMX site has all kinds of fittings that could be used for making non-traditional types of kilts.

You are really making yourself an asset to this forum. I saw a few buckles that I'm interested in. How goes the battle to wear a kilt at work. Perhaps if you transfered over to the wild wooley haggis exihibit...

Thanks for the link. I saw some too.

And what does he mean "wooly?"

I thought a haggis had long straight fur.

Don't make jokes man, I've heard that these are vicious little buggers. I think Pour1malt has actually seen one in a museum!

Well, thanks (in regards to the asset comment). It's good to finally be able to contribute something versus simply asking questions and seeking advice. I'll definetely be buying some buckles in the next week or so. I have a few roller buckle belts laying around so I'm sure I can get some idea of how those buckles will ride before it actually comes time to make that decision. As to wearing kilts at work - you gotta pick your battles and frankly wearing the kilt at work is just not one I want to take on. Besides, I guess one benefit to not wearing it from morning 'til night is that I get more wear-time out of my kilts before they need washing - unless I'm working with one of my animals at home and it craps on me, which has been known to happen. I always make sure to have a towel in my lap now if I'm hand-shedding a snake. Less kilt washing involved that way.

I've searched the catalog and found lots of great buckles, but the biggest ones I can find are 40 mm or so. That's only 1.5". Are you guys seeing anything larger?
