Lochcarron Jacket
My first kilt jacket. I was confused and asked Kathy Lare to help out. From what I wanted we decided on Lochcarron's Argyll Tweed in Grey Lovat from their Highlander Collection.
The neat part is being a weird shaped guy I could order a custom fit. Lochcarron cut it to size for my collar to waist length, center back to wrist for perfect sleeve length, chest size and waist size.
No, its not cheap, but it is elegant and it fits perfectly. Features include being fully lined, functional side, chest, and inside wallet pockets, three staghorn buttons on each sleeve, three on each side pocket flap, one on each of the epaulettes, and the button that buttons the front.
The detail is amazing. Each sleeve end, the side pocket flaps and the eppaulettes have little decorative seams sewn in below the buttons.
And, of course it was sewn up in Scotland.
I am one happy camper.

I know the hose are off...just wanted to get some pics and this is what I was wearing when the jacket arrived.
So, if you want custom sizing rather than off the rack, get ahold of Kathy Lare.

VERY nice Ron. It looks just like my Lovat Grey argyll (I'm sure the quality in your Lochcarron is higher, BUT I got lucky and found one on Ebay that fit perfectly. I'm wearing it in my other post "The New Mexico Cut Oot." And, where the heck is your tie???

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Tie???
ALL my ties are either tartan or aloha shirt patterns. Don't think I've worn ties, other than for weddings and funerals, since 1992. Guess I gotta get some.

That jacket is super, Ron. As for ties, you should talk to Kathy or some other kilt shop owner about the wool ties Locharron makes. I'm not sure, but I think Matt Newsome sells them in the museum shop.

Yep, I ordered one from the folks at the museum a few months back.

It really depends on the occasion; for those pictures, then the jacket, sans tie, is fine -- but for other occasions, a tie is very appropriate and would not be considered "stuffy". Remember that the tweed day jacket is techically "country wear" for shooting, stalking, etc. and would not be worn to events that might have an air of "stuffiness" about it. The tie itself is not "stuffy", but only the person wearing it.
I love ties. A well-tied and good-looking tie is the finishing touch on an outfit, INMHO.
A bolo tie? Could be interesting -- have to see it first before I make up my mind about it.
Cheers,
Todd
