    Trip to Scotland?

My wife just said she found a trip to Scotland from Atlanta for about 180 bucks! What is it gonna take for me to convince her to go in two weeks? I have a whole week off, and I could use a trip like that?

And . . . any suggestions on what to see will be welcome.

If we make it, I'll be looking up some X'ers while there, I hope.

Transatlantic flights to Scotland land at Glasgow or Edinburgh Airports, both of which are in the central belt and make good centres for touring and are handy for visiting Stirling. I'm planning to be in Edinburgh from 3rd to 8th February and in Glasgow from 22nd to 25th February, so could maybe meet up. Or if you decide to stay with P1M at Ferintosh I should be able to pop across to Dumfries for a meet.

Rent a car. Gas is pricey, but the rentals are small and gas-efficient, and Scotland is small enough that your gas bill won't break the bank.

B&B's are everywhere once you get away from the big cities (actually there are lots there, too) so if you are adventurous and want to travel til you feel like stopping without having reservations for the night you probably won't have any problems finding a bed, especially this time of year.

Even if 180 bucks is one way - go! To help your wife see the wisdom of the trip - print several of P1M's great photo tours of ancient castles, abbeys, and ruins. Every time I look at those photo tours it sure makes me want to jump on a plane!

    Good Luck!

I'm looking at going some time later in the year...and I can't wait and I say jump on it. However it works out it can only be great.

I belong to another internet group that's composed of large format photographers and one of the guys recently went over to Scotland on his honeymoon...his comment was something along the lines of his having thought that Ireland was the beautiful and scenic destination but that Scotland totally blew it away.

Or I could go alone for about 600-700.

Plus the cost of the divorce settlement.
