Is this too good to be true?
This looks like a really good deal depending on how high the bidding gets. Any body on here know who this is by any chance?
14oz. wool made to order kilt on ebay
I realize that by posting this, I may be shooting myself in the foot, but I just wanted to get some people's opinion before I jumped on this deal. Thanks in advance.

It's hard to know. It could be someone trying to learn how to make a kilt and is selling kilts to recoup some of the expense. They are a very new ebayer so they may be setting the price low to draw in bidders to run the price up. It wouldn't hurt to contact the seller and ask about their experience in kilt making. It would be a shame to get a good price on a wool kilt and have it made by a person who is just starting out.

It would be worth sending the seller a question or two - and to set your price limit early so you don't get wrapped up in a bidding frenzy and pay a lot more than you intended to.

What Fearnest said.
I got into a bidding frenzy once but was lucky enought to back out. Checked later on the price and it was way above the price you could get it at retail.

I'm a pretty wary ebayer, I won't go overboard.:-) I'll ask the seller a few experience questions, and go from there. I'm thinking, if I do go for it, of doing the box pleated option. That tartan to me just seems like it would look good that way. I'll keep y'all posted on what I find out.

I am pretty sure I know this seller has made themselves a kilt before. I am also pretty sure that they are a member here
Maybe they will add a comment or two to this thread.
That tartan looks awfully familiar

I contacted the seller and was told that he/she has been making kilts for about a year, and I'm waiting for some pics they said they'd send. I also informed the seller that I was a member here, so if it is someone here I hope to hear from them here, too.

Yep, it's me.
I've made several other kilts, and I'm hoping to make myself one out of the other half-width at some point, I thought I'd throw up this side to make up for the cost of the tartan.
I answered Paul's questions by other means, but that's the gist of it.

So chasem is a closet kiltmaker? And we had such high hopes for him. Good luck PaulX608 at least you know that your future kitmaker comes from good stock... us.

I sold chasem the wool a few weeks ago, and would like to point out that if any of you guys are looking to do business with chasem, he is a good guy. Our transaction went without a hitch and I would happily do any business with him again in the future.
Plus it's a bloody nice tartan
