Newsome box-pleat in 16 oz MacDonald Weathered

(Hey Bradley, did I get your attention? )

Just got an email from FedEx saying my new box-pleat was shipped today and will arrive on Monday. Why is it I could wait patiently when I didn't know if it was done and I can't contain myself when I know it's on it's way?

This kilt will have a bit of history to it. A friend of mine needed to sell his great kilt and, while I didn't need another one, I immediately saw the possiblities for six yards of double width MacDonald Weathered tartan (a box and knife pleat both! ). A quick email to Matt got me in the queue and the first of the two kilts will be in my sweaty little hands in less than a week.
The irony is my family is Campbell affiliated and now I'll have a MacDonald tartan kilt. Personally, all history between the clans aside, I can't think of a better way to show the respect I feel for my friend than to wear his tartan.

    BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Yes. Yes you did get my attention. I use the "new posts" feature. And, I skipped over all of the other posts and went straight to this one. It was like there was a beacon calling me straight to it. Well, that and the "key words!" I can't wait to see the pictures. I'm sure it's beautiful.

Make that two of us looking forward to your pictures! Each time one of you post pictures of your new Matt box-pleats makes my wait a little bit easier!

Actually, make that three of us. Mine should be in the mix anytime now. I believe I ordered the first week of November. I've been a good boy and haven't bothered Matt, but recently, I've been sorely tempted. (deep breaths....) Mine's in MacDonald of Glencoe

    Congratulations H.H

Well I ordered mine less than a month ago...looks like I'm going to be waiting until spring, at least I know it will be well worth it. In fact I'm having Matt make a 5 yard knife pleated when the X-Marks tartan arrives!

The Campbells and MacDonalds have been co-existing very peacefully and happily in my household for almost 28 years.

Not all MacDonalds and Campbells were deadly enemies. One branch of the MacDonalds were hereditary pipers to a branch of the Campbells (I can't think which branches, and I'd need to trawl through my library to find out again). Even the Massacre of Glencoe wasn't purly a Cambell Vs MacDonald affair on a grand scale. Although the event was orchestrated by a Campbell laird who had a grudge against the local MacDonald branch clan MacIan (and also some MacGregors), who amongst other 'attrocities' had stolen his prize stallion. The force that carried out the massacre were commanded by the laird's nephew, who was blackmailed into carrying out his orders, but very few of the men under his command were Campbells.
Also Micheil MacDonald gives an amusing (but very serious) account of how his MacDonald forebear might have been the son of a man called Donald Campbell (his son would have been designated MacDonald ie: 'son of Donald') in his book 'Scots Kith and Kin'.
The Kilt is my delight !
