    New Kilt Night in Vancouver?

Who's up for a new Kilt Night in Vancouver (the one in Canada - for I understand that there's another one across the border)?

The Kilt Night in Doolin's Pub is all very well....but it's a 'Sports Bar' more than a 'pub', and although it stocks more cougars than a wildlife refuge, I find that my (potentially) riotous conduct is dampened by the fact that they hold it on a Thursday night. That, and the fact that I've been 'claimed' (accosted for the purpose of assault, and I'm here to tell you that the 'Glasgow Kiss' is an utter novelty on Granville Street) twice when coming out of the place...

I'm thinking the second Saturday of the month (so's not to compete with Doolin's - they HAVE treated us well) at the Atlantic Trap and Gill on the corner of Seymour and Davie.

"The Trap" is where the first Kilt Night was held by Tom Lockhart of Westcoast Tattoo. the food is authentic East Coast (in that I find it abominable, but that's what my taste runs to when I'm 'on a rare terr'), the place jumps like a geyser when the band gets going, and as "She Who Must Not Be Named" no longer infests the place I haven't heard of anyone getting barred on a whim.

Give it a thought - I'm just going to start doing it and see who turns up

    Cheers aye

    Rob

    Rob,

I don't make it downtown as much as I used to, but I sure do miss the Trap and Gill. Now that "she who must not be named" (likely joined the cougar habitat at Doolin's) is gone it could be a great place again.

I like Atlantic Trapp and Grill. However, I was turned away twice at 8pm because they have reached maximum capacity.

Ah Jeez...can you imagine HER 'on the pull'? Kill me quick...that old Biblical line "seeking what (s)he might devour" takes on a new, literal and terrible meaning.....

How about looking in to a place in the burbs? Although there are a number of "sports" bars there are some others that might work. I can't remember the name off hand but the place at the old Caribou Hotel, Jimy Macs in Langley, Mission Springs brewpub........What do you think?

the lack of space is an issue....but I've never had to wait too long to get in (possibly because some poor bugger was turfed out?)

the 'no dancing' caveat makes me wonder if some High Kirk Elder is on the licensing board (that's why seated hard-shoe dancing used to be common across the pond).

I never heard her name, and I darena say it out loud for fear she'll come up through my living-room floor. Brimstone and Pitch is hell to clean.....

Howzabout each/any of us posting his choice (well in advance so those of us kept on a tether can arrange parole) and the rest of us doing what he can?

there's also the Wolf and Hound, the Irish Heather, the Frog and Firkin, the Billy Bishop (all of which, I admit, are within a four-mile radius of my place so when I finally stagger through the door I'm marginally less blotto than when I set out!)
