    Added weight to Sport Kilt

I was reading Richland's thread on the Blackwatch Well in Bermuda and he mentioned that he brought his Sport Kilt with him but did not wear it because of high winds. I have worried about this at times too when wearing the Sport Kilt at the beach (walking along the seawall mostly). There are unexpected updrafts and the PV can create some excitement.

I know some of you will be horrified by this but I sewed drapery weights to the inside, inner pleat on all my Sport Kilts. The weights are pretty heavy. I got mine at JoAnne fabrics and they came 4 weights to a package. I tried to get the product info from their website but the search engine is weak. Anyway, I do not worry about the wind now. The kilt still sways and the pleats hang nice and straight. I don't believe that the weight causes any distortion in the innner/outer pleat appearance. If anyone is interested, I'll post a pic later (when I get home).

This is something a girlfriend of my youth did with her Catholic school uniform skirts. The gals have been adding small weights to pleated skirts for many years. It prevented giving the boys a show.

Do girls have boys to show. Oh nevermind I see, other people a show. Silly me.

ScottiNH sounds like an excellent idea if nothing reveals the use of weights.

Looks like the weights might show when you sit but the truth is that we sit on the pleats so I haven't seen them show yet.

Here they are on the California.

Close up (I didn't sew them on straight because I didn't think they would be on display . . .)

Sewed them pretty well on the top of the weight and just tacked them on he bottom.

Don't have the package so I can't tell you what the name of the product is but this is what they look like. Cost - $1.99 for package of 4.

Great idea for SK owners! All you smug "tankers" keep out of it . I just may have to consider your creative solution when the weather warms up enough to put on my SK again.
