    Spiro plaid kilt - weird/retro/upholstery

At the March Belmont Kilt Night (link below), I chose to wear a kilt I made in July 2005 while I was still practicing on casual cotton kilts. Questions about the kilt night pics were asked by mrpharr and cloves, so here it is.

When I saw the fabric on eBay I could not resist the challenge. The colored lines are printed on upholstery weight cotton, and they are slightly wavy by design. It was a fun task to get the horizontals to match as closely as possible (and make it APPEAR as though thought was actually put into it.) At first glance, it appears pleated to the sett, but using an approx. 2-inch pleat to create a casual kilt, some of the verticals changed position from the printed pattern (but, who's looking that closely anyway?)

Kilts may be out of the norm, but this one is outside the kilt norms. (Doesn't that neon green stripe look terrific? and the salmon pink ones?) Still, as a unique garment, no one can impugn its ancestry by calling it clan MacTablecloth or clan MacWalton.

    Kilt on!

Dood, I had just turned on "The Wall" and was drinking a Woodchuck with some lime in it.

Now, I am all screwed up.

That might be just about the most awesome thing I've seen all day. I'd totally wear that.

When are you headed this way? I'm determined to get Adam and a couple of others together this time around.
