Has anyone tried Glenniff?
Has anyone had experience with Glenniff Highlandwear? www.glenniffhighlandwear.com
They have an eight yard traditional kilt for only £199...I wonder what the catch is!

Wow. I'm impressed by the price. I'm also impressed by the fact that in the list of tartans in their dropdown box, they have the Texas Bluebonnet tartan.

Never heard of them but I live in Edinburgh and they are in Glasgow. The catch though is you only get what you pay for. Double width tartan from a recognised mill retails at over £40 a metre so work it out yourself. Why don't you try looking them up in Yell.com and BT.com.. Their website only gives a PO box address which could be anywhere.

I did notice on the traditional kilts it said "Hand finished"

I agree, the price seems good. The site says 16 oz. worsted. Also, Black Shadow is listed, and that's the same tartan that SWK sells. If it is the same material, it has a nice feel.
The MacIntosh tartan they show, is a weird one. It looks like it's blue on my monitor, and it should be green for hunting, or red for clan.
Earl of St. Andrews is the tartan of my local Police Pipe Band. If this is the same material, again, it is a nice fabric.

I have not heard of them either, but the old axiom holds, "If it seems to good to true it probably is."
One thing I am thinking is that if the black shadow tartan is from the same place that Stillwater kilts get theirs from, then all the tartans here might be from the same place.

Not nessasarily sew (get it?). SWK only come in 24" length, these are availible in custom lengths. Perhaps the tartan come from the same mill. If sew (did it again) I wonder if they sell just the material as I love to have a waistcoat to match my SWK.
