    Serious opinions

Some may have seen this Sporran on the DIY section. I will be wearing it with A US Army Tartan kilt at an official Dinning In. I have Affixed the Armys eagle Crest to the top of the sporran. My question: Is it doing respect to the service, or is it an innappropriate location for this emblem? Keep in mind where the sporran is worn.
    All comments welcome.

I believe it is set off nicely on the sporran. I can't say that I would find it offensive at all.

Looks good and I don't see a broblem with the location of the sporran either.

In dutch...translated to english...we call it "our noble parts"...so it must be a good place for honorable objects also

As an Honorably Discharged Veteran of the US Army, I personally think it looks great and would love to see it worn with the US Army taratan!

i think the sporran looks fine. i never would have assumed the possibility of offense until it was mentioned here. in my opinion no part of the human body is offensive, who would dare to think of God's creation as offensive?

"our noble parts"... that is a great way to think about it. it is sad that in English the words we use for our noble parts are clinical, juvenile or crass. (language is always a great insight into a culture)

Many of the Highland regiments had special sporran badges, including the famous "Jimmy" badge of the Black Watch (St. Andrew & his cross) and the Gordon's stag's head -- I think this is in a similar vein, and quite appropriate.

Definitely NOT offensive...it is very well done and is a beautiful tribute!

    Richland,

The location of the crest on your sporran is fine. I have seen numerous sporrans with emblems in that same location.

By the way, did you know Alexis Malcolm sells kilt pins and kilt buckles for all the US military services? I have a USAF kilt pin and it is very nice.

I like it and don't give a second thought to the location of the sporran. Pockets need to go somewhere. I recently commissioned Tom Hays to make me a day sporran with an emblem on it and consider it the height of honor to display your passion. Carry on!

All that said, if there are firm historical references that portray the sporran or its location otherwise, it would be nice to hear them (and then I'd probably still rebut it).
