There were two reasons we discontinued the CaDPat fabric.
The first was due to the availability of the fabric. Yes, the pattern is owned and restricted to the Canadian Govt. However, there are a few knockoffs starting to surface. If you are willing to buy in bulk or buy sight-unseen from E-Bay I'm sure you can find a source.
The actual reason we quit, was the CaDPat fabric was a royal pain to sew. The actual uniform fabric is a very loose weave and has IR suppression fibers in it. A kilt made from the same fabric would be almost see-thru. It would also be very light and fly-away. About the same as 6-7oz. fabric.
What we were using was the heavier stuff used for kit bags. This fabric was VERY stiff and hard. Each needle hole was there to stay. It also had a waterproofing coating on it and it took about half a dozen washes for it to wear off. Until then there looked like the fabric had large white streaks in it.
Add all that to that the cost. We had a single opportunity to buy a bolt of fabric before the Govt. clamped down on it's sale. We payed a high retail price for the fabric and for what it was the cost was just too much.
Hopefully, very soon, a knock off fabric will become available that is closer to the other Camo fabrics and we can again offer CaDPat to our customers.
