AmeriKilt has one in the mid-nineties. Other than that, I'm not sure... I can't recall having seen plain black in the less than $75 range.

Ya buy 5 yds of black PV at wally world. I large work belt.
Lay the belt on the ground, lay the PV overtop of the belt and gather the material.
Lie down on the material pull the right side over then the left which will then reveal the belt. Do the belt up around your waist. Stand up put the fabric thats above your waist over your left shoulder then tuck it in the belt in the front. your done.

If it doesn't have to be completely black, try Stillwater's Nightstalker at $80.00

    Mercy

I got a very nice solid black kilt made under the "Mercy" brand name off eBay.

If I recall correctly the price was quite low. Other than the material not being wool, the quality was great!

I have a Stillwater Kilt black "Shadow Tartan" kilt. It is 100% wool and about 6 yards of material. Lots of pleats and there is a black on black tartan pattern visable in certain light. If you can wait and save for a bit they sell for $122 now at the Stillwater site. It is a favorite of mine and I like it as much now as I did a year ago when I bought it.

    Here's a picture

    Cheers
