Calling all those kilted in Germany....
I was wondering if anyone else was planning on going to the highland games here in southern Germany next weekend. Its a bit late notice, but would anyone like to meet up? Im still sifting through the information since its all in German and my German still isn't that great. Im still looking into train fares if they actually will go out that way on the weekend. Maybe some people would like to get a "schones Wochenende pass" and save some cash. I decided that this trip would be my birthday present to myself.

Also, nothing is definite, but me and Sean_the_kilted are meeting up on the 3rd at the Dubliner, a small pub here in Heidelberg. Again, late notice, but if anyone is interested let me know.

I'm going to try to get there on Saturday, 7 July for a few hours.
I'll be traveling with my wife, our adult daughter, and the daughter's niece through southern Germany for the next week and we can divert through there on the way home.
I need to book accommodations this weekend. I'll let you know by PM with my cell phone number when confirmed. It would be great to see more than one other X marker over here.

Just checking in to let you know that I am paying attention. But I won't get to go cuz my lovely lady and I are taking her son to Nuernburg on Saturday to celebrate the end of his current school career. Kinda like high school graduation but it doesn't translate exactly from the German School System to the American System. Anyway, have fun and drink a Helles:beer: for me, Bitte!

A-Hay and Mumbles,
When might you be there on saturday? I'm going to try to be there for a short time, but nothing is definate. I'd rather be there when other X-markers are there.

We will probably be there between 11 am and 3 pm.
I'll probably be wearing my Ancient Hay tartan with my black sporran with the silver Rampant Lion. That is probably the most distinctive item I'll have on.
I'm off on a trip the rest of the week and will be stopping off at the fest on my way back. So I won't likely be on the forum again before then.
Hope to see some of you there. Just come up and introduce yourself.

My wife and I and our visiting daughter and her niece from the states went to the Highland Games at Angelbachtal last saturday. It is a great venue, set on the grounds of a palace in a small town southeast from Heidelberg.
There were about 10 bands competing on Saturday, but they also had stage shows during the afternoon. The featured band was Scapa Flow. They were very good and I was able to pick up 3 albums for about $12 each.
Not much in the way of vendors of things scottish, but there were a few. A lot of food and drink vendors however. One booth was selling haggis and I tried some. It was not bad, perhaps a little salty. Don't know where they got it from though. I'll certainly try it again in a couple of weeks when my wife and I go to Scotland!
Didn't run across any other X markers, but perhaps next year. I'll put this on my list of places to visit and try to stay from Friday through Sunday.
Regards,
Tom
