My dumb idea for kilt pin

I'm thinking about how to adapt a Harken mini bullet block (sailors here will know what that is) for a kilt pin.

    Pic

This is about the size of a quarter. :eyeroll: I figure, if I make one, I'll probably be the only one wandering around with one on.

Then again, maybe a little stainless anchor shackle would be better...

I suspect that you could proably find a sextant pin of some sort.

By the bye, Kevin, your photo link is broken.

I agree with your sentiment, but hopefully if the wearer was in a kilt there would be nothing to debag - other wise he would deserve to be debagged for being 'bagged' quite apart from wearing somebody else's badge.

I'm editing to add that I think the original idea is good if it can be made practical. I think accessorizing (my spell checkers says that spelt wrong but is not suggesting the right spelling) with items that are personal to you or your area or interests is a great idea. How about a piece of fancy rope work with a turk's head for your nautical theme. Or perhaps a piece of nautical ropework as a sporran strap...

Alan love the block idea and the shackle. I would think that even a small shackle might be too much weight. So possibly grinding it down to half thickness might be an idea and go with rare earth magnets. I am partial to nautical fare, I have a 14k gold shacle earring that I wear. Probably overpaid onebay but I just had to have it. Now to go with block and tackle from belt to kilt pin for the salty ladies who want to do a kilt check...
