    Pleat Types

I am coming across some kilt terms that I do not understand. I would appreciate any help in explaining these:
    1. knife pleats
    2. box pleats
    3. (any other pleat types)

I have two Stillwater Economy kilts. Does anyone know what type of pleats these have?

    Those are knife pleats.

There's an illustration of various pleat styles here.

No worries. It wasn't so long ago that someone was showing me that illustration to explain military box pleating.

    (*raised eyebrow*)

If one does not know, the logical response is to inquire.

If you want to be really confused, do a site search on "kingussie pleat"

It has a center box pleat in the back, and then knife pleats running in opposite directions towards the apron. The Scottish Tartans Museum in Franklin has one on display that is stunning.
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

I'd love to see a picture of that.
