feather sporran
Has anyone out there made/seen a feather sporran? Something like a semi-formal rabbit fur one only made with the down chest skin of a bird such as a dove or partridge. I'm curious because I have a picture of one in my head and it looks quite nice with the speckled feathers and claws for tassels but I'm not sure how feasible it is or if it would even look like I think it would.

If you do make it please post a picture. It sounds cool. Are you going to have the bird's head on as well? People might comment on your pecker then.

I've never seen such a beast. I would think that you would need a big bird to do it though.

Check out this website. I'm not sure how durable a feather sporran would be, though...

I'm going to ask around some taxidermists on how to preserve bird skin. Acquiring the doves shouldn't be a problem since the lady down the street feeds them regularly there are always a few pair around. I don't want to make one out of bird leather (although I do have some nice ostrich leather boots). I basically want to take a standard, everyday, leather sporran and cover it in feathered bird skin. I think I'll just add this to my ever-expanding list of "things I hope to accomplish before I die".
