Just to show we did get some sunshine . . .

    Eilean Donan Castle

    A river in the highlands

Dun Scaith Castle ruins on the Isle of Skye, not so sunny.

    Highland deer, an unexpected site!

Nice to see those deer. They do tend to be elusive.
Glad you enjoyed yourself so much.

Nice pictures. So, tell us about highland deer. Are they related to red deer? Their antler spread is really big compared to the white tail and mule deer in the U.S.

Most wonderful photos---hope to have some to share in a couple weeks when the youngest gets home. He, too, after a slow start, is impressed by the castles and such, much more than when we were in Italy.

Ref.the question about the deer.Yes those are a group of red deer stags, the hinds will be away having calves. If you look closely at the antlers,in the picture, they are clad in skin(technical name-velvet)which will fall off when the antlers stop growing.Any time now in fact. The red deer stags have a new set of antlers every year. The old ones fall off at the end of April/ealy May time.
