    Anyone familiar with Guskilts

During some recent surfing I ran across a kiltmaker in South Dakota of all places. WWW.guskilts.com. I did a search here and didn't come up with any hits. I was curious if anyone had any dealings with him. He has three type of kilts casual, royal and great....and his prices seem to be at least "royal."

Not familiar, but pics he uses I've actually seen on other sites, so I don't think are samples of his work(?) Seems a bit pricey somehow.

Boy IrishRob, you do surf. Looks like a very niche kiltmaker who also does web design.

Some interesting "testimonials." The only response to a Google of Sir Edward Birgenhugh is the testimonial on the website.

One would think an experienced kiltmaker would correct the spelling error in a testimonial praising the "Royal Steward" kilt.

The kiltmaker's tag line is "Classic designed kilts for bearish men." The New York Times describes Bears as a subculture of gay men who embrace natural body hair. The bear runs mentioned in the testimonials are gatherings of Bears.

Googling Gus Perkins brings up only hits on his own website or bear sites.

My guess is the guy is a niche kiltmaker for the bear market. Seems a bit of a stretch that royalty from around the world is flocking to him in North Dakota for their kilting needs.

What is most intriguing to me is that maybe, here's a guy who can sew up some creative ideas we might have for contemporary kilts.

And...we need to be patient with his two week waiting time.

Really hope someone knows more...curious find....maybe he'll join the forum.

I notice in poking around the site that Sean Connery and Sir Edward Birgenhugh, House of Lords, are both purported to be clients. I also noticed that one must call to order a great kilt because the Master Kilt Designer, himself, hand sews those...oh, and allow 2 weeks for delivery! I knew our kiltmakers here were just lazy...get on the ball people! This "master kilt designer" can churn out a made-to-order great kilt in two weeks all while serving members of the House of Lords and being the kiltmaker to the stars!

I've a sneaking suspicion that this site may be full of Hamish (the highland coo) poop.

Yes, yet another red flag. Sir Edward, a knight, would be a commoner, and would not sit in the House of Lords. If he were a lord, he would be styled Lord Birgenhugh, or Earl, Marquess or Duke of Brigenhugh.

There is sometimes something rewarding about looking at a set of falsehoods that some one has taken the time to put some thought and ingenuity into. On the other hand, when some one just slaps something together, as here, it's usually merely irritating.

2 weeks for a great kilt is doable. All you have to do is cut the material and wrap it up with directions on how to pleat, lay down, and wrap... I think I would charge less, depending on the drop of corse.

I just noticed his picture of the great kilt is a kilt with a plaid!

I can see why this might be a household "who" around the world.

No google history under combination (well, a note on a condolence site).

Links go to a computer software site, not even the webmaster.

The Sean usually has a high fee for endorsing, actually I don't think he does. (Geoffrey Kiltmaker claims the title of kiltmaker to Himself.)

Gus claims to be kiltmaker to royals around the world. Hmmm, there is only one family of royals that would be having kilts made. They tend to be located within four united kingdoms.

I'm suspecting either a web design project or a jobber like Kilts but not so up-front about it, in fact, misleading. Hope it's the former.
