Just musing's ...
I was having a good natter with a close friend yesterday and in a passing part of a very varied conversation, was asked if wearing my Cilt made me more of a 'complete' person. I had to answer that I thought it did. Just thought I would ask the same question here at X Marks.
Do you find that wearing a Cilt/Kilt makes you more of a 'complete' person.
Then thinking more on it I thought that when wearing a Cilt/Kilt out and about .. does's it make you a more confident or less confident person even though you might feel more 'complete' ..
Just musing's ...

I think any positive, successful new part of one's life, makes them more complete.
Does wearing a kilt make me more confident? Yes... pride & confidence go hand-in-hand.

What does it mean to be complete? At first blush, I'd think that how we drape our person has nothing to do with "completeness."
Besides comfort, wearing a kilt doesn't give you anything that you don't already have. You may be a bit more aware of those particular aspects of yourself, but they were already there in you. And you knew it all along. This awareness will fade much like the first scent of coffee in the morning fades. It's still there but you can no longer smell it.

Why do you suppose the military makes such a big deal about uniforms?

I don't think it's for completeness. The "Complete" man is independent and so exercises his own free will. That is counter to the general military where men are almost always part of a unit. The uniform is simply a tool that the military uses to reduce individuality and independence and to encourage a sense of membership and cohesion with members of his unit.
Since I am no longer in the military, I can be an independent man. That independence is a greater part of my "completeness" than how I dress can ever be.

Yes, I feel much more confident striding along in a Kilt than I ever did in trousers. Never felt nervous at the first wearing - just the opposite in fact. Something like an ultimate "Coming Out"; Also, I confess to feeling even a little agressive about it,(If you don't like it, then lump it!). A bit like finally discovering the TOTAL Me.
Besides that, I really do enjoy the breezes.......

Confident? H*LL YES!!! I find that I stand straighter, take longer strides and generally feel superior to the poor people wearing slacks.

I second that. A kilt doesn't make me "complete" but it does make me feel more manly and confident in myself.
There are 10 kinds of people in the world...
Those that understand binary, and those that don't.

I'm not sure if the kilt "completes me" but it definitely is way to boost my own confidence. I think anyone who dons the kilt has "it" somewhere inside and just needed that push out the door to recognize it.

Well said. I would agree, the kilt is mealy another manifestation of my personality. It is not the ‘be all’ or ‘end all’. It is just another part of me. And yes, it absolutely takes, and builds also confidence to wear the Kilt.
