    XMarks CCK

Well I thought I would finally write a review of my latest kilt, it's a five yard 16oz wool Xmarks tartan kilt from Peter at Canadian Casual Kilts I picked it up at the Fergus Highland games. I have worn it often as I find it to be very comfortable. As with my Maple Leaf kilt the fit and finish are wonderful and Peter was a joy to work with.

The wool came from the damaged lot from Fraser Kirkbright, Peter looked over it and showed me the wool before he got started to make sure that I was OK with it, let me say that I did not see anything wrong with the wool or the selvedge, nor did Peter, once I had given my approval the work started.

I am very happy with this kilt as it is my first 5 yard wool kilt I was not sure what to expect, I have been pleasantly surprised, I was unsure whether it would be too light or too heavy, however I find the weight is perfect for the summer months yet it is warm enough to wear in the evening. I would like to thank Peter again for the wonderful kilt, and Gordon Kirkbright for making the wool available, thanks guys I could not be happier with the end result.

I tried to get a picture tonight but it is a wee bit dark I will get better shots in daylight but for now here are the pictures I have:

How about a better shot of the pleating? Looks good from the front and side.

thanks all and you too Glen
The fabric was great to work with I looked over it and made sure there wasn't anything wrong with it, it worked great for making a kilt I am used to working with wool that has a bit more of a harder finish to it other than that the material itself was in good condition and pleated nicely. If your thinking about getting it from Kirkbright and Fraser go for it I found no issues with it if your worried contact Gordon he'll was incredibly helpful . I have 7yrds left if anyone is interested .

Ok, we have the classic Mcmurdo side pose. I was beginning to wonder who was wearing your kilt and what he had done with you.

That is smashing! So glad you have a proper wool kilt you can wear in warmer weather.

Happy new kilt. It looks to be the envy of that gathering you were at. Very well turned out.
