    Thanks to cousin Colin!

My cousin Colin phoned me yesterday to inform me that he'd bought me an Officer's dirk as a congratulations for beating a particularly stressful episode a little while back. I decided I'd make him something special. I'm hoping I can get it finished before we go up to his place (11 hours drive away) at the end of the month. I'm guessing that I'll have about a week's worth of late nights, what with everything I have on the go ATM

I racked my brain as to what would work well for a Gordon, without being too close to others I've done, and still contain something rare or unusual. I've decided to do it heavy on the symbolism: Deer antler (I used Fallow, for the shape), with Ivy end caps (from just outside Glasgow, and a big thanks to Arlen for that one!!), and endgrained blackwood spacers, with a yellow stone to match the kilt's stripe. I'm using an antiqued forged blade & I'll post pics as I go.

Thanks cousin, hopefully I can give it to you in person, rather than post it.

    The basic bits:

    The starting layup:

amused myself some more while waiting for some epoxy to dry on another project: The blade is just sitting in the pilot hole to show the overall look, & the hilt has had a light wax to seal & protect the timber.
