Advice on a Kilt Marker
I am new to kilts but am considering purchasing from Heritage of Scotland in Kirkcaldy (www.heritageofscotland.com) and was wondering if there is any adverse comments on these folks?
Thanks!

They are owned by the infamous Gold Brothers they have an identical site here: Scotlandshopdirect.com
I don't know what you are actually looking to buy from them, but much of what they sell is cr*p. Also they do very little to support traditional Scottish weaving and industry. I wouldn't buy a postcard from them.
Of course this is my opinion, you will find others with stronger ones.
There are many reputable kiltmakers on this forum. I don't know what your budget is but whether a casual kilt or a hand-made one you will do better here than with Gold Brothers.

No offense to the quality kilt makers in Scotland, but I'd consider looking at the US kilt makers first. That way you avoid custom charges, shipping charges, etc. Most of the best ones advertise here.

Welcome to the forum.
You are on the right path to purchasing a kilt that won't disappoint you by asking here first. There are many knowledgeable people here who won't mind telling their personal horror stories about various companies and shipping problems.
Be warned once you start you won't want to stop.

from Chicago. There are some great companies in the kilt business here. I, personally, have had a great experience with Stillwater Kilts. There are also some great custom kiltmakers on this forum - Barb T (look up her memberhip and send her a private message), Kathy Lare - www.kathyskilts.com, and Matt Newsome - http://www.scottishtartans.org/. I've seen their work and it is flawless.

Welcome from southern England.
You purchase from that company at your own peril. I will say no more!!

from St. Louis!
My personal experience with Jerry from Stillwaterkilts has been amazing! I can't say anything good or bad about anyone else, but Jerry ships super-fast (either he uses alien technology or he's invented the transporter and he's not telling us) and his prices are reasonable for the quality. I have 2 thrifty kilts from him, and I had them in my hands 2 days after the order was placed.
If you want to see if being kilted is right for you, go with a thrifty from Stillwater. It's under $30 and you'll have it before next weekend!
(Sorry if I sound like a commercial for SWK)
