Celtic Corner in Cincinnati

I just discovered kilt shop located just east of Cincinnati, called Celtic Corner.

They offer traditional 8 yrd kilts in standard 13 oz tartans for $395 USD. According to their website (http://www.celticcornerstore.com/) "Made from Scottish wool by our expert Kiltmaker Lenora Gilmour. Lenora machine stitches the pleats for added strength, however, her technique makes the stitching practically invisible. 3 straps and buckles are used on each kilt. We produce a massive array of clan, district & Irish mediumweight tartans so there are well in excess of 200 to choose from. "

Does anyone here have any experience with this company or with Lenora Gilmour? I think they had a booth at the last Cincy Celtic Fest.

They also have been making their own casual kilts for about 6 months, starting at $120.00.

I picked up a card from their booth at the Cincy Celtic Festival and have been meaning to visit sometime when I had more time. I sort of recall seeing a kilt hanging in their booth. Since I only sort of recall it, I know I wasn't wowed. The tartan didn't line up exactly line like it should on the horizontals. But it might be worth a second look. I remember that they had a large assortment of accessories and what-not.

Since Celtic Isles has moved from Waynesville to further north in Dayton (and was not represented at the festival), the Celtic Corner probably now has the corner on our market.

There's another place between here and Louisville that's been around longer, I think.

Their casual kilt is crap, but I did get a nice tweed argyle from them about 18 months ago. They used to do the Cincy celtic fest, but stopped 3 years ago.

My wife was just there yesterday picking up a few things, said the store was 2 stories tall, and had lots to choose from. As well as a frozen foods dept. in which We will be dining on HAGGIS this weekend!! (frozen not canned). She said it was real easy to find (if SHE can find it, any bloke can find it w/ their eyes closed)

Roan - Thanks for the compliment on the avatar. That symbol is called a valknut but is sometimes known as Odin's Heart. It's usually found carved along side Odin, most often in battle or death scenes. In that respect it's supposed to suggest passage from one world to the next. Norse mythology contends there were nine worlds; the valknut symbolized them with it's nine points.

Scotland Yard is in Shelbyville, about twenty five miles east of Louisville along I-64. They are right around the corner from an ex-girlfriend's house, so I'm careful about when I go there.

They do a LOT of business in rental formal wear, judging from the stack of boxes with outbound addresses I saw when I was last in their store. Their kilts and accessories are mostly from Lochcarron, and they have some t-shirts from Buzz Kidder's collection.
