Kilt Jacket help
So, I got a White tailcoat. I cut off the tails and this is what I have:
Back view:
So here is the question: What buttons do I replace the satin covered buttons? How many? Do I make it like a PC button pattern, or argyll, or? Silver or gold?

PC pattern as it's a very formal look. I'd also go with silver. Gold should be saved for black, red or navy blue.

I would think that you should copy the button pattern for a Prince Charlie with silver buttons. I think it would be closer to a PC than anything else, although the only white kilt cut jacket I recall seeing is a mess jacket.

I was wondering, why put silver buttons on a white jacket? I have only seen them with gold buttons.

You are indeed correct, it's just me. I see silver as a neutral metal whereas gold a coloured metal and going better with white. You could also think of black buttons.

I suspect it's that usually kilt belt buckles and sporran chains are silver or chrome, and silver or silver colored buttons match them, while gold wouldn't.

Why replace the buttons at all? For a white dinner jacket, I think the cloth covered buttons look fine.
But, having said that - If you really want to change, I would opt for the silver, diamond shape celtic style buttons.
Now the next question - Just when are you going to be able to wear that fine conversion?

I vote silver buttons, there are several places on the net to find them. Gold may be harder to come by but I think there are some at www.highlandxpress.com/buttons.html
