    She Was So Beautiful!

My little town has a hot air balloon festival going on this weekend. Its become a big deal every year. There's a balloon glow up and down main street where the hot air balloons are teathered, but they light them up. Must have been at least 30 balloons at the balloon glow tonight. Many more for the festival. All us locals come out and walk up and down the main drag and take pictures of the balloons. Vendors set up booths. Probably the big social occasion of the year. I'm in my Cameron Black and Red turnout as posted earlier on the show us your pics forum.

So this most beautiful lady stops me and says, "I love a man in a dress, er, sorry, KILT." I said a polite thank you and picked up her left hand which had a diamond on her 4th finger. I said, "Dang!!" Cracked her up...but were I bifurcated I doubt the beautiful lady have even noticed this 63 year old beer belly.

A young blond lady made a beeline for me and said, "Where's your bagpipes?" I said, "Under my kilt lass - you wanna see them?" She said "No thank you." Was a fun exchange, not a rude one.

Another lady buttonholed me and wanted to know if I was wearing a "traditional kilt." Told her yes, it was a traditional hand sewn eight yard wool kilt. She said, "Not that kind of traditional." Point apparently was that her boyfriend dressed up for Halloween as a Scottish warrior but would not wear his Halloween kilt in the traditional manner. Told her sorry, can't help with him. I said, ya know, if I asked a lady if she was wearing underwear under her skirt I'd be arrested. She said, "Why? If you asked me I'd tell you. And tonight I am wearing underwear." But she said it as if she doesn't always...

I'd guess all these ladies were in their 30s or 40s which is "young" for me and a great compliment.

There were more passing "I love your kilt" comments from the even younger ladies.

Think I'm hearing more comments because my lady is out of town this weekend and I was wandering the streets alone.

I was in Albuquerque, NM on a business trip. I was lucky and had my wife with me and we were spending a few extra day in town. I got up early and walked to the hotel window to see what the weather was like. As I looked out the window I saw what appeared to be hundreds of hot air balloons taking off. I woke my wife and we spent the next half hour or so watching the balloons fly. I was a wonderful thing to see.

That a couple of women could pulled away from that shows the power of a man in a kilt.

I grew up near Albuquerque. My dad and I used to go to see the balloon rallies every spring and fall. I used to love it. I wish they did it in Denver.

This balloon wasn't there. Wish it had been.

I wonder how many people look up at this one expecting an answer to The Question.

    Great story, Ron.

    Wait, wait, wait...
    You're 63?
    There's no way you're 63, Ron.
My Dad's 57 and he looks 10 years older than you!
