    New Newsome 5-yard Knife

It's here and it's awesome! Here's some pics:

I really am excited it's here... but the wife is one of those "surprise" photographers... You know she's taken the pic when you hear the shutter...

Anyway, as much as I love it, I'm having a problem...

When I sit, I look like I'm trying to put something on display... I have a UK Original and a USAK casual and I've never had this problem... does it look like it's riding wrong to any of you guys? It comes several inches up from the knees when I sit down...

BTW, for those interested, that's my 5 month old, Lilybeth Erin, our first kid.

What is the fabric? Is it stiff? It looks OK to me, but we can't see you going from standing to sitting.

Well without seeing what you are talking about it's hard to tell, but I think what you are experiencing is normal. I have experienced the same thing in reverse going from traditional kilts to contemporary kilts I have found that when sitting they seem too long, perhaps it is something you will have to get used too.

BTW it is a wonderful looking kilt congratulations, it looks very good on and seems to hang and sit properly.

Also what a beautiful addition to your family, congratulations on Lilybeth Erin

Nudge, hey McMurdo we're both one closer to getting our Newsomes. In regards to your concern, are you sure you're not bragging ? As McMurdo said it may just need getting used to. Until that time be careful. Unfortunatly I can't see you pics but I imagine it to be nice.

    Alright... you asked for it...

The first pic is me right after sitting. The second is after I've pulled and pushed and tried to be as modest as possible. Images are linked so as not to have giant pics of me sitting in my kilt just pop right out on screen...

If you notice, there's a spot where the fabric bunches up... if that spot was about 4-5 inches lower, I'd have the extra fabric I need for the kilt to drape between my legs...

    Any suggestions?

Your new kilt is very nice and your baby is adorable!
I'll leave the seating arrangement question to the pros!

    Great looking kilt, Captain!

Do you always wear your kilt without a sporran?

I find a sporran, besides be essential for carrying stuff like wallet, keys, etc., is very useful for shielding "the boys" from view when sitting. When I sit in a traditionally styled kilt, I sweep the pleats in place with my right arm (because the pleats fold to the right) while simultaneously pushing down on the sporran while spreading my legs to accomodate. I continue to apply downward pressure on the sporran until I'm situated in my seat & the bottom of the sporran is pushing against the seat. This assures firm contact between the seat, apron & sporran, thus preserving modesty.
