looking for highland wear in Houston
So first off, I hope this is the right section for this post.
Now the dilemma. I've got a company Christmas party in a little less than 3 weeks. I've no dress sporran. I've no ghillie brogues. I've no argyll jacket (this is no prince charlie occasion). I've been looking for someone in the Houston area that sells the following items. I know that we've got some Houston based forum members so I thought I'd ask here.
So what's it gonna be? Is there a place to shop in Houston or do I have to rush an order?

OK. I'll give it a try.
First, a "dress" sporran would not be required. If your intention is to appear in "business attire", a semi-formal would do. This could be a decorated all leather sporran or a fur fronted sporran.
As to the shoes, if you are dressing in anything less than formal wear, a good pair of plain black lace-up brogues will do nicely.
The jacket is more of a personal thing. I think you can look darn spiffy with a nice tie and no jacket.
What I am attempting to do is put to rest any fears you may have about your appearance at a company gathering. The items you mentioned needing can all be aquired at a more leisurely pace and a reduced stress rate.
I have placed a pic of myself dressed in such a way so you can decide for yourself as to whether this style might work for you.
Other than donning a coat to ward off the chill, I felt this outfit worked fine. And judging by what the ladies had to say, well...................
Good Luck!

Try J. Higgins. They are in Kansas but you can get things shipped to you fairly quickly.

Things Celtic is in Austin. Don't know if they have jackets but they have the other accessories. Google them and give them a call. I think a nice shirt and tie would be sufficient though.

There's a place in Houston: http://robertley.stores.yahoo.net/highlanddress.html Though I don't think that they have an actual storefront. Your best bet might be to go to the renaissance festival as there's a kilt shop there, though you'll probably pay more than you would online.

J. Higgins
www.jhiggins.net J. Higgins is a large importer of highland dress in Kansas. I do a lot of business with them, this is likely your best bet with the time constrants. They are pretty reasonable, and you can call them to make sure things are in stock, and get fast shipping.
