New Canadian Maple Leaf Kilt
I received my new Canadian Maple Leaf kilt from Kathy Lare this week. This is the second kilt I've ordered from Kathy, and her work is absolutely fabulous.
The pictures below are clickable thumbnails.
This kilt is made from Lochcarron's 16 ounce Strome. I've worn it several times already and received about a half-dozen compliments from complete strangers. Judging by their reactions, I think this tartan appeals to a wider range of people than some. I have to say this kilt looks even better than I imagined from looking at a swatch. The red in the tartan is paired with just the right colors to make it look very rich.
When my wife and I travel outside the U. S. and our home state of Alaska comes up in conversation, the other person often mistakes our state for a Canadian province. I suppose this won't make things any better, eh?

That one has got to move up higher on my list. Beautiful work, and kudos to Kathy Lare.

Oh man, that tartan is SOOOOOO smashing. If I end up making my way up North, like I'm hoping, I think I will then feel justified wearing that one. We'll see.

Welcome to Clan Maple Leaf! Congratulations; you now own the best tartan ever made!
Mine's Lochcarron, too.

That's one mighty fine looking kilt, congratulations. I should look at this material for my winter weight kilt.
Alaska a Canadian province, pffft! Don't these people know it's a part of Russia!

That is such a really beautiful tartan, and it makes for a magnificant kilt. But you wear it so well! I'm impressed by the ensemble you've put together for it, from that impressive belt buckle to the way you've blended the green pipe hose with red garters.
