New meeber from Canada
I had my initiation to the kilt at Halloween and enjoyed the experience enough that I have one on order. The kilt was a rental wool 8 yd. 13 oz. Scottish National tartan. It was comfortable and I didn't have to pull it up periodically like I have to do with trousers. It was also windy outside and I had no problem with lifting.
I got a number of compliments - "cool", "looks good". Also had the question - "undertand that nothing is worn underneath" - Answer: " I guess some do".
A couple of pictures are on flickr 'Gord's Photos' under people.
I enjoy this site very much and look forward to wearing the kilt at Celtic and family events.

McMurdo Kilt Nights
McMurdo - thanks for the welcome. I tried the SOKS search without success.
I live in Etobicoke so perhaps you could outline a few places in the west end for me.
There was a place called TOKS and a list of similar establishments that I did find.
Thanks.

Welcome from 15 minutes down the road (OK an hour with traffic). What McMurdo was saying search SOKS (Southern Ontario Kilt Society) here on X Marks. We met once sometimes twice a month and usually west of T.O. Our hub is around Burlington (which funnily enough is where I live ). We have members from Fergus, Dunnville, Stratford, Toronto, Burlington, Hamilton, B.C., VA, TX, PEI, NC and Wales. Two of our members are kiltmakers (RKilts & Canadian Casual Kilts). Trust me, you're in good hands.
