That's ok, I think I've got you beat! Since we're moving in January, all our stuff is already packed away in boxes in the storage locker. No decorations at all this year. A little sad, but it's the only way we can keep our sanity right now.

So, I'll see your "Nyaa Nyaa Nyaa" and raise you a "neener neener neener".

But, but....... That's cheating! None at all? Not even a little Nativity scene? No stockings hung by the fireplace? No candles in the window.......nothing?

Ok, ok...we ARE putting up a tree and setting out the Advent wreath. However, my wife's favorite hobbys is decorating the house for the holidays. Any holiday. If there isn't one, she'll make one up.
The house is always decorated in some form or another. This move is driving her crazy.

Just let her go overboard next year in your quaint new house. You'll have now stress or worries (and a couple of new kilts) this time next year.

I'm not planning to put up any this year either. I'm going out of town for the actual holiday, and I'm going to take the opportunity to enjoy the season of Advent instead - Christmas, itself, starting of course on the 25th and running through the 5th of January with January 6th (Epiphany) being the traditional day for 'burning of the greens.'

Gee, in our family we have a enjoy putting up our decorations in stages in preparations for the Christmas Holiday. This week we will put up our Herald Angel light and wreaths outside. The next we will put up our Nutcracker collection, then our snow village on the mantle, and finally our tree. I don't mind those who do it all in one frantic afternoon, but I prefer doing it gradually. It is certainly a good excuse to listen to Frank Sinatra and Mel Tormes' Christmas albums while enjoying a Christmas Spider, Santa Baby, or simple Egg Nog.

Bully for you James, but I take it slow.

    Cheers

Sometimes the typo's can have downright hilarious effects!

But then, on a whim, I googled it and came up with this, among others.

So, I think that Jaime might have a German tradition in his house???

We put our decorations up at Christmas - that is, 24th December. Usually in the afternoon.

Then we take them down on Twelfth Night.

I suspect that they might be considered slightly restrained in design and extent.

I do tend to buy the largest tree I can find -a response to the tiny artificial tree we had at home, I think, but that is the only extravagance.
