What kilt pin for American Heritage Tartan?
I wore my American heritage kilt from USA Kilts, today and after a while I noticed that I didn't have a kilt pin on it. I have the Xmarks kilt pin, and a sword that I have on my other kilt, but I was thinking it should be something related to the title of the tartan. Maybe something from my Navy days. I am open for suggestions. I don't want to spend lots of money, but might get some for Christmas.
Oh, and I just realized I didn't take a picture. Hopefully next time.

You don't have to be Scottish to be comfortable!

Hey, Dale, great question! I'm waiting on one from Matt Newsome, so I'd be interested in suggestions too. Anything American oriented, without a sword?

Do you have any metals from the Navy? I've seen other threads about using them as kilt pins. I've used several things like a highschool pin and held it on with a small quilting safetypin through the back of the apron. Hope that makes sense.

The idea to match pins to tartans is a good one, and as our Hamish has recommended, will save wear and tear on the fabric. I have taken to doing this also, and am still in search of enough pins to have a permanent pin on each kilt.
The American Heritage tartan doesn't yet rest in my closet, however it will soon, as I have moved it up on my personal wish list.
I did a small search for patriotic pins last night, and didn't yet find one that I felt had sufficient class for the tartan.
I was looking for a sterling silver or gold National Ensign, or some other pin to display national pride. I didn't find anything yet, but I'll keep on looking.
If I had that tartan right now, and didn't yet have a good pin, I would use a pin that I got last year when I volunteered at our local polling place that simply says "I voted."
Good luck in your personal search, and please let us know when you find the perfect pin.

This may be a bit too big, but you get the idea

I think an eagle pin would be good,
or possibly a flag,
or the liberty bell.
