    Boots?

I was wondering, did the Scots wear boots? I always read about Ghillies, but I don't like Ghillies. To me it seems only natural that a Scotsman would wear some big English-stomping boots.

I don't think they started with boots... I think they started with leather bag shoes kind of like moccasons. Although, I think I want to get some leather knee high moccasin boots to go with my casual kilts.

While boots might not be historically accurate, I do remember seeing a pic of Ewan McGregor kilted with boots. And I like wearing them with my kilt as well.

Well, if it's just boots and no history, then the low cut lace up boots. Hiking boots are pretty good with a kilt if you do scrunchy hose for the clydesdale look.

I wear Medieval Moccasins with my belted plaids. They do carry a high top version. With my tailored kits I wear hiking shoes regularly.

I wear Doc Martens with my kilt regularly. The boots are a bit tall to wear with scrunched hose, so I wear them with hose up and flashes and give 'em a good shine.

That'll work, but I still say knee high moccasin boots would go great with a kilt. Guess you wouldn't need to show any hose with those.

I also wear Doc Martens. For those occasions where the boots aren't appropriate, I wear Doc Martens shoes, which are basically a low-top version of the boots.
